Is June Over Already?

Holy cow… this last month flew by!  We left May 28th for Omaha and I feel as though that was yesterday!  I spent a week in Omaha with the girls.  Then Jason drove there and stayed a day and we were off to Kansas City where we stayed at Great Wolf Lodge for a couple days.  After spending some time with Jason’s family we all drove back to Colorado.  I was dreading the drive, but the girls did so well!  No fighting… AT ALL… they took a nap, watched movies, played games and went to sleep.  Seriously… the driving is easy.  It’s living out of a car that’s difficult for keto and meds.

We had about a week after we got back and then we left for Las Vegas to see my mom.  We celebrated Annie and Jason’s birthdays while we were there.   The girls slept by themselves at Grandma’s house while Jason and I slept a few blocks down the street at the Aliante casino.  And THAT was our first night away from Lily since we can remember.  Yes, my mom had to endure the sleepless nights that we typically do, but being only a few blocks away made it doable for everyone.

So here are our highlights:

Swings and lots of them!  And not just 20 minutes on the swing… a good hour or more of pushing them on a swing!  Why do kids like to swing so much?  Still, now that were home… more swinging.  “Higher, mommy, higher."

The Omaha Zoo.  It’s a lot for a 2 and 4 year old.  We didn’t make it far, but we checked it off our list!

Cuddles and lots of them!  My Annie can make you feel so loved.  It’s a gift.  She is who she is for a reason! God loves us!

And speaking of which, just like cousin Eddie, she took trip after trip off the diving board with her swimming tutu and googles on.  The only thing missing were the socks!

Why don’t all grocery stores have miniature grocery carts?  Well, because it would be a disaster, but the girls loved it!  How great would it be if they pushed my groceries all the time!  Thank you, HyVee!

You’ll go to extremes to entertain kids at a restaurant so that you have the hope of enjoying a drink and a short conversation.  Poor Uncle Elmo ate three travel packets full of kleenex.

Great Wolf Lodge.  Fun, but Disneyland style of nickel and diming.  Lots of fun water slides, but no warm shower afterwards.  I might be exaggerating.  It was a lot of fun!

Our first experience fishing.  The girls seem interested.  I’m just scared of 2 and 4-year-olds with sticks and sharp hooks!  Definitely a Daddy job!

I got a night to hang out with my buddies.  Oh how I miss them!  I don’t get to see them often, but we don’t seem to miss a beat!

Annie turns 3!!!  We rented a cabana at the casino pool.  I told Annie there is no need for her to go to Vegas for her 21st birthday. She crossed that off her list already!  Schwew!  I can rest.

Our entire plane said “happy birthday” to Annie right before landing!

This girl is not afraid of anything!  Super easy going.

This one is a little more reserved when it comes to water - as she should be!

Since my mom slept with the girls, Jason and I were able to take one night to have a drink.  Not something that happens too often.

You may wonder what Wagner did while we were gone (although probably not).  Well, Drew, a kiddo who lives in our cul de sac, watched him.  Apparently Wagner now has a new best friend - Drew’s cat, Cairo (it’s a hairless cat).  Seriously?!  I thought that only happened in movies!

We had a wonderful time visiting family!  It was nice to get away and it was nice to get home and back into routine.  Someday we’ll be able to go to Disneyland no matter how much they nickel and dime you! Can’t wait for that!  That just might actually be our going-of-the-diet celebration!
